Wyoming's state legislature
starts its session on February 11, 2002. Two representatives, who are
also physicians, are going to introduce a bill that will repeal the religious
objection to mandatory school vaccination. It is HB 0005 and can be
read at http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2002/Introduced/HB0005.pdf
. At first I had thought that they meant they would still allow
it for those who "rely in good faith upon spiritual means or prayer in the
free exercise of religion to prevent or cure disease". However, I
have found that even that small concession would not be allowed. If they
were to change it to include that concession, we would fight it just as
hard, because almost no one would fit into that category. Most people use
some medicines and some healthcare providers, or other healing methods, but
some of those people do not believe that vaccination is acceptable to God.
