Tell a Friend

The VIAM monthly meetings have had variable attendance.  The January meeting was well attended thanks to getting the word out to our friends. Let's make an extra effort to get the word out to our friends that there are options to the vaccination schedule and that they can get more information on February 5th at 10:20 at the Potomac Library in Montgomery County.  For more information, please give me a call at 301-897-8962.

Harness the Passion

January 22nd is the anniversary of Roe vs Wade.  Every year on this date, there are rallies in various places throughout the country recognizing this.  And, as usual, there will be a rally on the Mall in Washington DC.  Usually both pro-life and pro-choice groups are represented.  The vaccine issue has aspects that are central to the ideas put forward by both groups.  The pro-life group is against abortion and thus would be likely be against the use of the cell lines of aborted human fetuses being used in the manufacturing process of two vaccines.  And the pro-choice group would likely be for choice in other aspects of medical care.  But both groups need more information about the vaccination issue and how it relates to their primary issue of interest.  A next step for VIAM is to see if it is possible to harness a bit of that passion.  This January 22nd, I am going down to the Mall to check things out, so that we can figure out how we can best use this rally to promote vaccination education among these most passionate of groups in future years.  I will be handing out some specially created brochures made for the occasion, while I am there, to see how that is received.  I have made two very distinct brochures for the two very distinct audiences.  If anyone is interested in joining me for this initial trip to scout out the situation, please call me at 301-897-8962.  And next year, hopefully, we can go with our own group and have a significant presence!

A good article on this issue can be found at www.all.org/issues/kellmyer.htm.

Some web sites with information about the march are www.lutheransforlife.net (click on "What's New") and www.marchforlife.org (click on "Announcement...") and www.rockforlife.org (click on the first item listed under media).

(And just a note, VIAM in no way promotes either the pro-life nor the pro-choice position on the issue of reproductive rights.  VIAM, as a group, is completely neutral and holds no position at all on the issue of reproductive rights.)

So tell a friend about the informational meetings and help get the word out!  Hope to see you and your friends on February 5th.
