UNICEF Launches Early-Childhood Development Project Africa

Improving early childhood development by lowering the
incidence of preventable diseases and conditions linked to poor nutrition is
the focus of a new program launched by UNICEF and the Benin Health
Ministry.The programwhich targets
children under six years of ageaims to protect them against tetanus, measles,
and other vaccine-preventable diseases, as well as reduce the incidence of
malaria, pneumonia, diarrhea and illnesses linked to vitamin A deficiency.International aid agencies from the United States,
Germany and Switzerland are participating in the program.
