“Brazilians May Need Vaccine Again”

Associated Press (www.ap.org) (02/16/02); Radowitz, Bernd

Merck recently found that some batches of its VAQTA vaccine packaged in syringes did not contain enough antigens to properly protect against hepatitis A.  The situation may necessitate revaccination for 60,000 people in Brazil.  Other countries where VAQTA was recalled include Argentina, European nations, and Asian countries.  The vial-packaged batches do not have any potency problems.
