Dear Parents, Family Members and Supporters of People with an Autism

Spectrum Disorder

I hope you will give the following email from the Autism Association

Queensland Inc (AAQ) your keen attention and consider accessing the on-line

petition calling for the establishment of an Autism Register in Queensland.

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/QAR2002/petition.html

“This register can/will serve as a primary resource to researchers, clinicians and service providers to assist with knowledge of these complex disorders. The main purpose of the register is to collect information that is useful in the pattern of autism diagnoses in Queensland, to more accurately indicate the prevalence of ASD and thus be able to petition government for more funding and services.”

Information has been forwarded to you in our January 2002 Gold Coast ASD Support Group Newsletter regarding the Queensland Petition, and also such a Register already in existence in Western Australia.  If you would like a copy of their latest WA Annual Report, I am more than happy to forward it to your email address upon request.

I hope that you take the time to read the email below and consider registering at the web page which contains further information regarding the petition. You may have family members and friends who may like to support this petition, so please consider passing this email onward.

Kind regards

Helen Steinhardt

Coordinator

Gold Coast ASD Support Group

Subject:    FW: Autism Register Petition

Hello All,

AAQ have recently prepared and distributed a petition calling for the establishment of an Autism Register in Queensland. This petition will be presented to Minister for Disability Servies, Judy Spence to launch Autism Awareness Week (12-18 May 2002). A web site offering a free petition hosting service was recently bought to my attention (thank you, Vicky!), so I have registered this petition on-line.

The main URL for the petition is:

<http://www.PetitionOnline.com/QAR2002/petition.html>

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/QAR2002/petition.html

The concept is simple: the more people you can send to read your petition, the more people will sign it and thus contribute to this cause.

Please remember to only sign the petition ONCE. If you have already signed a hard copy, just forward this to people who may be interested but have not yet received a hard copy to sign.

Each person who signs this petition will automatically receive an email message from petitions on-line to confirm their signature, which also suggests that they take a moment to tell a few friends about the petition.  We hope you do the same!

Thank you,
