"Warning of Possible Outbreak of Measles"
Irish Times (www.ireland.com) (12/10/02) P. 5; Holland, Kitty
Parents of children living in the eastern region of Ireland are being urged to have their children immunized against measles, as an outbreak there has doubled during the past week. Ten cases of measles have been reported in the past seven days, compared to the average level of up to four cases a week. Vaccine uptake in the region is just 70 percent, 15 percent below the 85 percent guideline set by the World Health Organization. Health officials note that the vaccine is available free of charge from general practitioners.
