INTERNATIONAL IMMUNIZATION NEWS
"Vaccine Records Fuzzy"
Vancouver Province (www.canada.com/vancouver/theprovince) (12/03/02) P. A4
A new survey by Health Canada indicates that 19 out of 20 Canadian parents say their children's vaccinations are current. However, immunization records show that while 94 percent of children had received their first measles, mumps, and rubella shot, just 77 percent have received the second shot. The researchers note that the reports are based on the parents' own reports, so they may not be completely accurate--thus highlighting the need for a formal vaccination registry.
