"Few Side Effects in Israeli Smallpox Vaccine Drive"
Reuters Health Information Services (www.reutershealth.com) (12/19/02)
A spokesman for the Israeli Health Ministry reported on Thursday that the country's vaccination of 15,000 emergency workers against smallpox has resulted in few side effects. According to Ido Hadari, four people have been hospitalized as a result of the vaccination effort. The patients include the child of one worker and the spouse of another, who experienced blisters and a mild fever after coming into contact with the worker's vaccine scar; the other two individuals received treatment for minor side effects to the vaccine.
