"Coley Wins $6 Million Grant for Research"
Boston Herald (www.bostonherald.com) (12/14/02) P. 28; Powell, Jennifer Heldt
A $6 million U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency grant has been awarded to Coley Pharmaceutical Group, to finance research to enhance the anthrax vaccine using the company's synthetic DNA to quickly stimulate the body's immune system. The synthetic DNA, along with the vaccine, should allow for more protection with fewer required vaccinations, explained Coley vice president Patricia Dimond. The company believes its technology can help boost effectiveness of other vaccines as well.
