Friends,
NY State now has its own version of the Model
Emergency Health Powers Act in the
Assembly and Senate. NY Senate bill S5841 and Assembly
bill A09508 would empower
the governor to decide when and if to require
vaccination of NY residents in "an
emergency." Needless to say, there is always
controversy regarding mandating any
vaccination, but there are numerous other concerns
raised by this legislation.
New Yorkers for Vaccination Information and Choice
(NYVIC) has published a
special section on these issues at http://nyvic.org/nyvic/law/emergency/
, with
links to the bill, relevant articles and contact
information.
Please post and circulate this information.
Sincerely,
Frank Fitzgerald
