"PowderJect Accused of Delaying Disclosure"
Financial Times ( www.ft.com ) (08/13/02) P. 1; Jenkins, Patrick
PowderJect Pharmaceuticals' shares dropped 23 percent Monday
after it disclosed a recall of its tuberculosis (TB) vaccine due
to production problems. The Irish Medicines Board rejected
PowderJect's license on the Irish market at the end of July,
saying it was "dissatisfied with the procedures adopted by the
company in producing this vaccine," and investors accused the
company of delaying the disclosure of such information for almost
a month. An investigation by the U.K. Medicines Control Agency
prompted the vaccine recall. PowderJect said that there are no
safety or efficacy issues with the TB vaccine, explaining that
the recall is due to low potency levels.
