Nueces County has one of the lowest immunization rates in Texas,
according to the 2000 Texas Immunization Survey, with only 64.5
percent of parents reporting fully vaccinated children. The
highest level of immunization coverage in Texas was in Travis
County, with 73.9 percent coverage. The Nueces County Health
Department has implemented a month-long immunization campaign
that includes special Saturday clinics and is priced-based on
parental income.
