CELEBRITY
BIG PHARMA PUSHERS FINALLY GET UNMASKED BY TV GROUPIES
"Scream" Comment By Nicholas Regush
Do we
really need Lauren Becall, Kathleen Turner and a bunch of other celebs
slyly promoting drugs and other medical products on some of the
so-called "news shows" on ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN?
Obviously not, and therefore three cheers for all those network and
cable news giants which may FINALLY be promising to unmask the
shilling celebrities who get invited on "news" shows to speak about
medical issues.
But
wait! Why would anyone involved in TV news ask a celeb on to discuss a
medical issue in the first place? You can see what’s going on here.
The TV groupies, or "news" hosts, such as those on NBC‘s "Today" show
or on ABC’s "Good Morning America" do not appear to understand the
difference between celebrity medical hype and real medical news (if
that actually still exists at the networks).
There
is really no excuse for the network programs inviting scores of these
shilling celebs on their shows. It merely reveals how ridiculous these
"news" shows have become. And for senior network people to actually
tell the New York Times this past week that they may have overlooked
some of the celebrity hype makes you wonder what the average IQ is on
the TV network executive floors.
Some
celebs will clearly go wherever the money is. Who cares about the
hype? The SCREAM OF THE WEEK, however, goes to TV bigwigs who have
allowed themselves to be further disgraced by these "news" antics.
If
you’re one of the few people who actually missed out on watching all
these grownups making fools of themselves, don’t worry: the next phase
of hyping drug and medical products on TV "news" is likely just around
the corner.
