"At Least 200 Dead From Meningitis in Southern Rwanda" Agence France Presse ( www.afp.com/english/home ) (08/07/02)
The southern Butare province in Rwanda has reported at least 200 deaths related to [meningococcal] meningitis C since the beginning of July. In an effort to prevent more infections, the country's government has launched a vaccination campaign and said it will provide free treatment to anyone infected, according to Rwandan Health Minister Ezechias Rwabuhihi. Vaccines are also being provided by the World Health Organization and Medecins Sans Frontieres. ALL INFORMATION, DATA, AND
