"After the Deluge, an Epidemic"

An outbreak of encephalitis in India's northeastern Assam state,
caused by recent floods that created prime breeding grounds for
mosquitoes that spread the illness, has killed about 200 people
and infected 600 others in the last two weeks, according to Assam
health minister Bhumidhar Burman. To help fight the disease, the
Indian government has sent vaccines, other drugs, and medical
personnel to Assam; UNICEF and the Red Cross have also sent
medicine.
