Litigation Update  First Thimerosal Suit Filed. Austin, Texas March 28, 2001

Austin, Texas has become the site of the first known civil suit to allege that the mercury based preservative "thimerosal" causes mercury poisoning and neurological symptoms similar to autism.

The case known as "Joseph Counter, et al v. Abbott Laboratories, Inc., et al" (Case No. GN100866 ) is now pending in the 200th District Court of Travis County, Texas. This groundbreaking suit alleges that cumulative exposures to the mercury-based compound, which is used as a preservative in many pediatric vaccines, contributes to cause a body burden of mercury that, in certain susceptible individuals, leads to the development of significant neurological

disabilities, developmental problems, and other symptoms.

The case has been filed by Waters & Kraus, a national law firm headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The firm reports that they anticipate the filing of additional cases.

If you believe that either yourself, or a loved one, has been injured by the thimerosal contained in vaccines, you are encouraged to contact Waters & Kraus so that the attorneys specializing in these types of actions can evaluate the potential of your case.
