"Vaccine Against Cavities Approaches Trials in Humans"
Boston Globe (www.boston.com/globe) (03/30/02) P. A1; Smith, Stephen
In Boston, dental researchers at the Forsyth Institute say they are almost ready to conduct human trials on a vaccine that combats cavities. After almost 30 years of work, scientists at the institute say they hope to shortly meet with three companies interested in sponsoring human trials of the vaccine. The nasal spray vaccine is designed to eradicate the bacteria that cause tooth decay, and if the institute gets financial support, a cavity vaccine could be on the market by 2010.
