"Three Cases of Whooping Cough Confirmed in Wyoming This Year" Associated Press (www.ap.org) (04/06/02)

Wyoming's Laramie, Weston, and Converse counties have each experienced one confirmed case of whooping cough so far this year, and another two cases of the illness, in Campbell and Carbon counties, were deemed probable by health officials in the state.  One case of whooping cough was in a four-month-old infant who contracted the illness before a full regimen of vaccines could be provided, according to Wyoming epidemiologist Karl Musgrave.  Wyoming had only one confirmed case of whooping cough last year, and there were four cases recorded in 2000.
