About My Practice
I
received my B.A. from Harvard in 1959, and my M.D. from New York
University in 1963. After a Graduate Fellowship in Philosophy at the
University of Colorado, I completed my internship at St. Anthony's
Hospital in Denver, and have practiced general family medicine since
obtaining my license in 1967. I became interested in natural
therapies in 1970 as part of my home birth practice, and have
continued to study and use them ever since.
I have practiced homeopathic
medicine since 1974, studying with George Vithoulkas in Greece,
Rajan Sankaran and colleagues in India, and other teachers as well.
In addition to lecturing and teaching seminars and courses on
homeopathy and related subjects, I have written "Plain
Doctoring," "An
Introduction to Homeopathy," "The
Case against Immunizations," "Vaccination:
a Sacrament of Modern Medicine," "Beyond
the Malpractice Crisis," "Childhood
Ear Infections," "Why
I Became a Homeopath," and other articles from the viewpoint of
natural medicine. My book,
Homeopathic Medicines for Pregnancy and Childbirth, was
published in 1992 and
Resonance: The Homeopathic Point of View will be available early
in 2001.
I see patients by appointment at my
office in Watertown. My practice is focused on education and
consultation about the use of homeopathic medicines and other
alternatives to prescription drugs and. surgery. I do not write drug
prescriptions, perform extensive diagnostic testing, provide
inpatient or home care, administer vaccinations or routine screening
tests, execute legal documents, testify in court, or give disability
evaluations.
Appointment hours are Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 3 to 6 p.m.
After hours and on weekends, established patients with acute medical
problems may also page me via beeper (See "To My Patients").
Fees are $200.00 for the first
appointment and $80.00 for acute or follow-up visits, payable in
cash or by personal check at the time of each visit. Credit cards
are not accepted. A standard medical receipt will be provided for
reimbursement. Missed appointments will be charged for unless we are
notified at least 24 hours in advance.
I accept assignment from MEDICARE,
but patients desiring reimbursement from Blue Cross or other HMO's
or managed care plans will need out-of-plan coverage or a referral
for homeopathic treatment from their primary care provider.
Although I cannot guarantee that the
medicines I suggest will help, I will work diligently on your
behalf, soliciting your active participation and informed consent at
every stage of the treatment. In return I expect you to be honest
and forthcoming about any problems you have in our work together,
and to take primary responsibility for your own health and for all
decisions regarding your care.
