BBC News (www.bbc.co.uk) (04/03/02)
About 3.4 million children under the age of five in selected areas of Ethiopia will receive polio immunizations as part of the first round of Sub-National Immunization Days this year, according to UNICEF, which is providing technical and financial assistance to the project. Others involved in supporting the polio immunization campaign include Rotary International , the Japanese and Norwegian governments, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. As part of the effort, a house-to-house polio immunization campaign was launched on Saturday in some parts of Ethiopia.
