"Canada, United States Join Forces for New Smallpox Vaccine" Calgary Herald (www.calgaryherald.com) (04/13/02) P. A19
Canada and the United States have established a five-year agreement to develop a new smallpox vaccine, according to the Canadian Defense Department. The agreement attempts to produce a vaccine able to counter biological attacks and is the first under the two countries' program, signed in June 2000, intended to create responses to chemical, biological, and radiation threats.
