“Researchers Develop Nicotine Vaccine”

Scripps Research Institute scientists have developed a vaccine against nicotine that removes the addictive chemical before it gets to the brain. Principal investigators Kim Janda and Michael Meijler have reformulated the vaccine, which was previously found effective in laboratory models, for human clinical trials.  The research, described in detail in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, is based on previous research by Janda into a vaccine against cocaine, which is currently in human clinical trials.
