“Japan Provides Ethiopia With $3 Million for Polio Eradication”

For the fifth straight year, Japan has contributed money to UNICEF to help Ethiopia fight polio and measles. This year, Japan donated $3 million that will be used to purchase cold chain equipment and vaccines, help cover the costs of administering the vaccine, and train workers to administer the vaccines. Measles takes the lives of about 72,000 Ethiopian children annually, and polio is still endemic in the country.
