“Southern Sudan Fever Identified as Yellow Fever, 30 Deaths Reported”

The World Health Organization announced Tuesday that an outbreak of yellow fever in southern Sudan has taken the lives of 30 people. Earlier estimates of the total number of people affected by the disease have been revised from about 178 cases down to 80. Health officials are planning a mass vaccination effort next week, and they have obtained an initial 40,000 doses of vaccine from Kenya.
