“UN Seeks to Contain Yellow Fever Outbreak in South Sudan”

Agence France Presse (www.afp.com/english/home) (05/22/03)

World Health Organization (WHO) officials have confirmed an outbreak of yellow fever in southern Sudan.  The outbreak, which was originally thought to be Ebola, has taken the lives of 22 people in the past month.  Health officials are now planning to vaccinate as many as 50,000 people in the area against the disease, and they will also provide mosquito nets and information about how to prevent infection.
