“Taiwan Approves US $1.44 Billion Dollar Budget to Combat SARS”

Taiwan's parliament has approved US$1.44 billion dollars to address severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS.  The money will be used to establish a prevention and reporting system, assist medical facilities, and help families of SARS patients.  In addition, the government has allocated funds to support research into potential SARS vaccines and medicines.
