Great News! Victory in Arkansas! First state to
add a philosophical exemption to vaccination in over 20 years!
Last summer, a federal
district court in Arkansas overturned the law for religious exemption to
immunization leaving only a medical exemption. This left Arkansas parents with
no religious exemption two weeks prior to the start of the school year in 2002.
The Foundation for Health Choice filed an amicus brief in federal court
challenging the constitutionality of forced immunization. The case is now moot,
since the Arkansas legislature just passed a philosophical exemption. Julie
Grinder, Arkansas lobbyist, “Tedd, we appreciate your involvement in the legal
battle. Our kids could not have begun school had the judge not granted a stay in
the case. It was a godsend for parents in Arkansas. Thank you for your work.”
Ted Mullenix and Julie Grinder, lobbyists with Mullenix & Associates, had been
meeting with legislators and state officials for almost six months when the
legislative session began in January, 2003. After many months of working to set
strategy, meetings with stakeholders and key legislators and a long hard battle
at the legislature, a new law was passed. The new law allows for a much broader
exemption than the state has ever had including medical, religious and
philosophical exemptions from immunization.
The Foundation for Health Choice is fighting for freedom of choice. We’ve
just begun to fight. James Turner, Esq. of the Foundation says: “We’ll
accept victories from any quarter: the courts, the legislature... We plan to
introduce our constitutional argument as amicus participants where
appropriate.” If you know of any cases for vaccine and/or healthcare freedom,
contact us. Please join Jim Turner, myself and the Foundation team and support
our fight for healthcare freedom. Find out about the Foundation at
