“China Warns Against Complacency on SARS as WHO Deems Data Flawed”
Agence France Presse (www.afp.com/english/home) (05/10/03); Harmsen, Peter
In the ongoing fight to control the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the Chinese government is warning citizens against complacency to the virus. Chinese newspapers have reported that infections from the virus are dropping, but the situation is far from resolved with China still having thousands of people quarantined and a death toll of about 235. The World Health Organization is also being vocal about SARS data coming out of China, which they say is incomplete, fails to show an accurate picture of how the virus is spreading through the country, and how different people are responding to the virus.
