ARLINGTON,
Va. -- Health officials say no one at an Arlington middle school has
shown symptoms of becoming infected with a bacteria that causes
meningitis.
Officials have been
interviewing 200 students, teachers and others this week, after a teacher
at Gunston Middle School died suddenly because of the bacteria.
Jonathon Cook died Sunday, less
than two days after chaperoning an overnight retreat involving eighth
grade students.
State health officials say the
bacteria that caused Cook's death can be spread only through extremely
close contact.
About 16 children and three
adults have been given antibiotics as a precaution
Health officials are still
trying to determine how and where Cook became infected.
