"U.S. Government Provides $8 Million Grant for Humanitarian Aid in Iraq" Associated Press (www.ap.org) (03/28/03)
UNICEF has received a one-year, $8 million grant from the U.S. government to fund water, health care, and sanitation improvements in Iraq. The money, from the U.S. Agency for International Development, will be used to pay for the purchase of drugs, vaccines, and other items to ensure that Iraqis, particularly women and children, are protected from and treated for disease.
