"Japan Sinks Funding Into Measles Vaccine Factory" Vietnam News (vietnamnews.vnagency.com.vn) (03/03/03)
The Japanese ambassador to Vietnam, Hattori Norio, and Vietnamese Minister of Health Tran Thi Trung Chien agreed that Japan will provide Vietnam with about $1.1 million in aid to support the construction of a measles vaccine factory. Construction will begin later this year, and eventually the facility will produce 7.5 million doses of vaccine each year. Vietnam hopes to vaccinate 20 million children against measles in 2002 and 2003 as it attempts to eliminate the disease from the country.
