Autism Community to Honor Congressman Dan Burton May 3rd
HONORARY DINNER AND DANCE TO BE HELD IN CHICAGO BY PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH
AUTISM.
Chicago, IL - Parents of children with autism will hold a dinner and dance on
May 3rd to honor Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN). As Chairman of the Committee on
Government Reform, Congressman Burton has led the fight in Congress against
autism. His work has provided inspiration and guidance for the entire autism
community.
The 50's-style "Rebel With A Cause" fundraiser will gather parents and
advocacy groups together to honor the congressman who has adamantly fought for
autism-mercury research and legal recourse for the thousands of children
affected. "We support those who support us. Dan Burton has put himself on the
line many times for our children and this is our way of giving back," says
Barbara Roth, mother of two children with mercury toxicity.
The lighthearted event will take place at the Hilton Palmer House in Chicago
and will feature parody performances and 50's-style fare. Attendees will have an
opportunity to rock around the clock with Congressman Burton while donned in
their favorite 50's and 60's attire.
Autism advocates and researchers will be providing 50's and 60's-style
entertainment for the evening. Performers will include Dr. Andrew Wakefield, Liz
Birt (Safe Minds), Jeff Sell (Autism Society of America), Rick Rollens (MIND
Institute), Lyn Redwood (Safe Minds), Lori McIlwain (MoMA/TAAP), Adrienne
Rousseau (MoMA), and Jo Pike (MoMA).
