"More Than 400,000 Pupils Eligible for Meningococcal Vaccine"
Australian Associated Press (AAP) (aap.com.au)
Starting on July 1, some 400,000 eligible students in Victoria, Australia, will be able to get free meningococcal disease shots through their general practitioners or through school. The shots, part of the second phase of the Victorian government's meningococcal disease vaccination campaign, will be available to children in primary school, as well as those in years seven, eight, and nine of secondary school. The first phase of the campaign targeted children between the ages of one and five years and 15 and 19 years. Victoria's chief health officer, Dr. Robert Hall, noted Sunday that "the best way to protect the community against meningococcal C is through immunization."
