With the potential to prevent thousands of melanoma-related deaths, Australian researchers, led by Chris Schmidt, are entering an anti-melanoma vaccine into the third phase of clinical trials after previous trials showed the vaccine was able to rid terminal melanoma patients of the disease. Results of the trial, which will involve 200 melanoma patients, will most likely become available in five years with the drug entering the market shortly afterwards.
