ID Biomedical Announces Strong Immunogenicity Data From Phase II Trials of FluINsure
Dow Jones Newswire (www.wsj.com) (06/16/03); Li, Josephine
FluINsure, ID Biomedical Corp.s intranasal, non-live influenza vaccine, reportedly has demonstrated strong immunogenicity in various phase II clinical trials. According to the company, 252 healthy adult volunteers have signed up for the clinical trials, with 175 receiving FluINsure and 77 getting placebos. The researchers measured the immunogenicity of the vaccine using serum hemagglutination-inhibiting (HAI) antibody titers and the exact amount of nasal secretory IgA antibodies found in the influenza viruses included in the vaccine. ID Biomedical asserted that both the one- and two-dose regimens generated serum HAI and nasal antibody responses that were stronger than the data developed with the live cold-adapted intranasal influenza vaccine.
