Experts Warn World Against Dropping Guard, SARS
a Wake-Up Call
At the World Health Organization conference in
Kuala Lumpur, global health experts are calling for more spending in public
health care following the recent severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
outbreak and the noticeable deficiencies in the health care system. Preparing
for a resurgence of SARS or another virus requires improving day-to-day
routines. Public awareness is currently the only tool health experts have
against SARS in the absence of a vaccine or treatment, and experts are warning
countries to remain diligent against the disease, because it could reappear in
the fall.
