Congo: Belgium Gives $2 Million to Fight
Measles
Cooperation Belge, a Belgian aid agency, has
donated $2 million for a measles vaccination project in the Equateur Province of
the Democratic Republic of Congo. Already, solar-powered refrigerators for the
vaccines have been set up in five northern health zones of the province. UNICEF
said the Belgian donation would also help purchase medical equipment and
medicine for area health centers. The vaccination effort is part of a UNICEF
project launched last year to provide urgent medical care to individuals in
northern Equateur's Mongala District.
