Hawaii Biotech has reached an agreement with Meridian Biotech on the development of a vaccine for dengue fever. Dengue viruses infected between 50 million and 100 million people each year, and dengue fever causes about 20,000 deaths worldwide. Hawaii Biotech has created a vaccine against all four dengue viruses, and Meridian's facilities in Memphis will be used to produce the vaccine for clinical tests in humans.
