Avant Immunotherapeutics has received a $1.64 million federal defense grant to test vaccines against anthrax and plague. The company received over $300,000 to work on an injectable anthrax vaccine with DynPort Vaccine, and it also received $1.3 million for studies of its oral plague and anthrax vaccine.
