Zambia Mass Measles Vaccination Campaign First
on Measles Initiative's 2003 Schedule
The Measles Initiative's first mass vaccination
campaign of the year will target approximately 5.2 million children in Zambia.
The campaign will provide measles shots to at-risk children between the ages of
nine months and 14 years, and vitamin A will also be given to children under
five years of age. The Measles Initiative, which has vaccinated more than 64
million children in 12 countries, has 13 other campaigns planned this year.
Additional support for the campaign comes from the Zambia Red Cross Society, The
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Zambia's
Ministry of Health, USAID, Right to Play, and the Canadian International
Development Agency.
