“Last Flu Season Was Mild”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has described the most recent flu season in the United States as mild.  The CDC said Thursday that deaths from influenza and pneumonia had likely declined from last year, and it noted that the percentage of flu-related deaths never rose above epidemic thresholds during 2002-2003 flu season.  During the previous season, deaths exceeded epidemic levels for five weeks in a row at one point.
