“Epidemic Fears as Jab Runs Out”

An increasing number of parents in Scotland are asking for separate vaccinations for measles, mumps, and rubella for their children, but clinics say that the mumps vaccine is becoming hard to find.  Experts warn that the shortage could mean an outbreak of mumps.  Last year saw 250 suspected mumps cases in Scotland, compared to 155 in 2001.  Statistics show that just 86 percent of Scottish children received the combined measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine last year, a record low in the country.
