“Sudan: Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign Begins”

Africa News Service (www.allafrica.com) (06/02/03)

Health officials launched on Sunday a mass vaccination campaign against yellow fever in southern Sudan.  A total of 40,000 doses of vaccine were air-lifted into Ikotos on Saturday, and the World Health Organization has ordered another 125,000 doses that are expected to arrive next week. Officials are initially concentrating on Imotong Town, the epicenter of the outbreak, and the Momoria camp for thousands of internally displaced people in the country.  The outbreak of yellow fever has taken the lives of 36 people in Sudan, authorities said.
