INTERNATIONAL IMMUNIZATION NEWS

“Germany Offers Aid to Refugees in Tanzania”

Xinhua News Agency (202.84.17.11/en/main.htm) (06/03/03)

Germany has announced that it will be giving 500,000 euros to Tanzania, in order to assist the refugees who have fled there from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda.  The funds will be used for immunizations, health awareness efforts, antenatal and postnatal programs, and other basic health needs.  The grant will be distributed to the refugees by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees and hopefully relieve some of the burden on the Tanzanian government.
