SAPA-South African Press Association (www.sapa.org.za)
(06/03/03)
According to a new report, the police training
college in Pretoria, South Africa, is the site of an influenza A outbreak that
has infected some 600 students. Twenty-five of the students have been
hospitalized as a result of their infection. Health officials are administering
antiviral medications and flu shots to healthy students to help prevent further
spread of the virus, and they said that individuals showing mild flu symptoms
are being isolated and kept out of classes until they are well.
