The Junk Science "Miracle Antibiotic?"
Colloidal Silver Has Some Distinct Possibilities
Wayne Hicks
10.20.01

First things first... This article is presented for information only, and not as any attempt by me or anyone associated with SierraTimes.com, it's management or ownership, to practice medicine. All of the information I am about to present is the result of online research, citing sources found online. I have not conducted any actual research into colloidal silver or its potentially helpful properties at this time. Nor do any of us take credit for the information you are about to read... most of this has been around a lot longer than the ol' Junk Science guy.

However, having said that, I will tell you that I am now using colloidal silver in my family, primarily because there is so much actual research data now available to make it reasonable to believe in the almost miraculous effects that many are reporting.

In 1938, pharmaceutical companies made a startling discovery that would change the face and impact of medicine forever. That discovery was not penicillin, not any other kind of medicine... it was this:

People will pay for drugs!

That discovery launched a new era in medicine, in which the almighty dollar took precedence over the effectiveness of a treatment, profits took the front seat from patient care, and the love of money took over management of what had been some of the most philanthropic corporations on earth. Advertising campaigns aimed at doctors touted the benefits of this medicine over that, sang the praises of each new concoction that seemed to cure some disease or kill some germ, until there were so many medications available that the Surgeon General, in 1969, testified before Congress that "the time has come to close the book on infectious diseases!"

It seems he was a bit premature. Even two years before that incredible pronouncement, the first disease-causing bacteria that had developed a resistance to conventional antibiotics was discovered, and in 1994, Dr. Alexander Tomasz voiced the concern of scientists, clinical microbiologists, medical practitioners and public health professionals that bacteria have bested most of the "miracle drugs" we've been relying on for our medical security.

"Some of the more threatening multi-drug resistant (MDR) 'bugs'", he said, "which have begun to gain a foothold are MDR Pneumococcus, MDR Staphylococcus aureus, MDR Enterococcus faecium and MDR Tuberculosis, which focuses on the prospects of the 'white plague' returning upon us with a vengeance."

Of course, here in the U.S., we have the benevolent protection of the FDA, watching over the Pharmaceutical industry, ensuring that they will produce ever better, ever more effective medicines, so that we can be sure of positive treatment no matter what illness may befall us, right?

Not necessarily so, said Dr. Herbert Ley, former FDA Commissioner, in testimony a United States Senate Hearing on the matter. He said, "The FDA 'protects' the big drug companies and are subsequently rewarded, and using the government's police powers they attack those who threaten the big drug companies." He then went on to say, " People think that the FDA is protecting them. It isn't. What the FDA is doing and what the public thinks it is doing are as different as night and day."

So, we have what appears to be a corrupt, money-mongering machine making the decisions about what types of medicines are best for us, and what types we can't be allowed to have... Am I the only one that has a problem with this?

Well, what if there were a legitimate medicine that cost little, was intensely effective, actually had been reported to cure the common cold, and which has been proven in clinical research to kill any bacteria or virus or fungus to which it was exposed within six minutes? Why wouldn't it be loudly proclaimed by the pharmaceuticals, why wouldn't it be marketed by each and every one of them?

Here's why... the miracle medicine I'm referring to is Colloidal Silver, a solution of positively charged silver particles so small you can't see them in water. According to the research done so far, it's effective, is not toxic to humans, and kills harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi while not harming the natural bacteria that are beneficial to our bodies.

The low cost and high effectiveness interferes with the basic fact of medicine today... that it is dependent on you getting sick... and staying that way, at least long enough to justify an incredible outlay of cash for the medicines your doctors prescribe... and for which many of them receive a "kickback" or "commission" each time you pick it up at the drug store!

Silver has been known to have curative properties for centuries... For example:

goblets were long made of silver, because it took longer for wine or other liquids to spoil in them...

Your grandparents probably dropped a silver dollar into a gallon of milk to help prevent it from souring, since that was common practice up til about the mid-fifties in many parts of the country...

as late as the 1970's, scientists would drop a silver dime into a petri dish to sterilize it overnight, since it was more reliable than most of the chemicals they were sold for the purpose...

and why do we call it "silverware" when it's made of stainless steel? You guessed it... because it was originally made of silver in order to ward off germs that might crawl from your fingers to your food!

Even today, the Space Shuttle uses a silver water system, designed to prevent germs from growing in the astronauts water supply... airlines use silver-based water filtration and purification systems...and every surgical implant is coated with a fine silver solution, to prevent the onset of infection, before being placed in the human body!

As for doctors... well, most of them today won't admit that silver has any medicinal properties, it would interfere with drug sales... but all the way up into the 1940's, silver solutions made form powders, or colloidal silver solutions made electrically, were among the most common prescriptions for over 650 different illnesses... including anthrax and smallpox!

According to common medical practice of 1938, colloidal silver was effective in almost 100% of cases when taken internally (orally) for germ- or virus-caused illness, topically for burns and fungal infections. In fact, research conducted within the past ten years supports all of the claims made so far.

On April 24th, 2000, the University of North Texas, Department of Biological Sciences, reported on its tests of a particular brand of colloidal silver against five common bacterial pathogens (Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Salmonella typhimurium) and one fungal pathogen (Candida albicans).

In the cases of the bacterial pathogens, each case showed a reduction from more than 10 billion germs in the test medium to a level so low that the presence of the germs could not be detected in less than four minutes... in fact, most of them reached that level within two minutes! A test suspension of more than 1 billion Candida organisms was reduced to undetectable levels in less than two minutes of exposure!

Colloidal silver works by inhibiting a cell's ability to assimilate or use oxygen, effectively suffocating it! It has even been proven effective in treating HIV, and is known to be a highly effective protease inhibitor! It's remarkable antibiotic and antiviral effects are of benefit to AIDS patients (and others with weakened immune systems), as well, inhibiting new infections that might threaten the patient's life.

Colloidal seems to have few, if any, side effects... but there are two that need to be mentioned, even though all the data is not yet in.

First, Argyria is a rare condition wherein, after prolonged regular use of colloidal silver, particles of silver will build up in the skin, can cause it to have grayish or bluish cast. The condition may be limited to the folds of the knuckles and the beds of the fingernails, or it can literally cover the body.

In addition, since silver deposits do take place anytime colloidal silver is used, there is an accumulation of the particles in all bodily tissues... including the brain! There have been no proven cases of neurological damage due to colloidal silver that I could find, but at least one or two cases are attributed to the use of colloidal silver based solely on the fact that the patients could not think of any other possible cause, without additional supporting evidence.

So... taking all of this into account, and after discussing it with my wife, we decided to build a colloidal silver generator and begin using it ourselves. We will not take it daily, as some do, but will use it when we feel the onset of illness, or suffer an injury.

I cannot recommend it to anyone else... but if you'd like to join me in fighting illness with what appears to be a very effective tool... you can find more information and the instructions on how to build a colloidal silver generator just like mine here. With this system, which is definitely "Junk Science" type stuff, you can make your own colloidal silver for less than a dollar a gallon!
