“Hawaii Firm Develops West Nile Vaccine”

Hawaii Biotech has developed a vaccine that it claims will protect people against the West Nile virus. According to David Watumull, president and CEO of the Hawaii-based research company, the vaccine is made with genetically engineered viral proteins that boost the human immune system.  Watumull said human trials of the vaccine are expected to take place within the next 15 months.
