“Below 50 Percent Vaccination Coverage Troubles Congolese Minister”

The rate of vaccination coverage in the Democratic Republic of Congo is less than 50 percent, according to Congolese Health and Population Minister Alain Moka, who called the situation “a total failure.”  Ongoing wars in the country have played a role in the country’s falling vaccination rate, which once stood at 80 percent.  In an effort to boost the Congo’s Expanded Immunization Program, UNICEF donated a number of supplies, including bicycles,  motorcycles, and freezers to store vaccines.
