Scientists are
making headway in the development of vaccines that can treat cancers, drug abuse
and dementia. In the Internal Medicine Journal, John Curtin School of Medical
Research professor Gordon Ada said the application of vaccine technology as a
tool in the control and prevention of non-communicable disease was a recent
discovery, and one still in the experimental stage. Among the different types
of maladies researchers hope to treat with vaccine technology are different
types of cancers, allergies, neurodegenerative diseases and drug addition.
Other vaccine formulations in development include treatments for Alzheimers
disease and Parkinsons disease and one to control some of the malignancies
caused by Epstein-Barr virus infections such as Burkitts lymphoma.

"I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education."

"What's the point of vaccination if it doesn't protect you from the unvaccinated?"
