“Toronto Scientist Goes Bananas for Vaccines”

The Cornell Research Foundation is working on developing edible vaccines within plants. Lead researcher Kathleen Hefferon says the project is designed to provide an easy and inexpensive means of children in developing countries getting vaccinated. A monetary donation will be necessary for Cornell to bring the idea to fruition. The project has been hampered by concerns over transgenic crops and pharmaceutical firms’ lack of interest.
